“WE FIND IT GRATIFYING TO HELP PEOPLE FIND SECURITY IN RETIREMENT AND LIVE THE LIFESTYLES THEY WANT.

CLIENTS WORK WITH US BECAUSE THEY RESPECT OUR EXPERTISE AND KNOW THAT WE CAN TAKE THEM WHERE THEY WANT TO GO.”

Our varied financial planning expertise encompasses asset preservation, retirement planning, tax and estate planning, risk management, charitable giving, education funding–the full spectrum of financial counseling services. And, you’ll benefit from more than technical know-how. Our relationships are based on a willingness to collaborate, understand and appreciate your views and preferences. In other words…we listen.

Our mission, along with a selfless dedication to help you attain your goals, is to ethically deliver on our promises.

“It’s always shocking to hear how folks think they are in good financial shape—that their pensions, savings, and Social Security will be enough. In reality, most people need to make immediate lifestyle adjustments to attain their retirement goals. We help them through that process. It’s what we do.”

We formulate the ideal retirement plan, tailormade for each client. In the process, they become educated and fully understand the strategies, which is necessary for them to follow the plan. In the process, we earn their respect and trust. Our clients these past many years will tell you so.

Whether you are a business owner, individual, family, hoping to retire or already there…we should talk. We’d like to count you among our family of clients. Let’s get started!

MEET Kelley C. Goodwin

Kelley is Education Partner in the Northern California region of the Financial Education Partnership (FEP), one of the largest and fastest growing 501(c)(3) nonprofits in the country. Its mission is to help individuals and families become more masterful in handling their finances, in order to enjoy higher standards of living and prepare more wisely for retirement.  FEP educators host no-charge public workshops on topics ranging from taxes to college funding to Social Security and retirement planning.

Kelley brings nearly 25 years of financial expertise to this role. As a highly credentialed manager for a national financial services company, he earned top honors and trained others to, like himself, help people prepare for and overcome life’s trials and tribulations.  In time, Kelley created his own financial practice where he continued to serve single individuals, new families, pre-retirees and those already enjoying “the golden years.”  His concern for others is evidenced by the number of clients entrusting Kelley to manage their financial interests for 20 years and counting.

“I have seen (in my clients) the peace of mind that comes from growing their money independently of stock market ups and downs.  So, I focus on  alternatives to the market.  FEP allows me to pursue my real priority: financial education.  Kelley has taught in classrooms in the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento-Central Valley. Financial Strategies for Successful Retirement and Social Security Maximization are two of his most popular workshops.

On a personal note, Kelley is country boy from Texas who infuses as much of country living into his lifestyle as he can. His family includes his wife and teenage daughter, two dogs, a parrot, six chickens, and lots of fish. The human Goodwin’s are all avid readers who love to pursue travel and outdoor adventures—especially fishing and prospecting for gold. The family supports global charitable causes like Feed My Starving Children and Rising Star, in addition to practicing a preparedness lifestyle.

MEET Paul Hoffman

Paul has a long history of classroom teaching in the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento-Central Valley.  One of his most popular topics is Maximizing Social Security Benefits and, he continues today, as an educator with the Financial Education Partnership (FEP), one of the largest and fastest growing financial education 501(c)(3) nonprofits in the country.  Headquartered in Washington, DC, FEP’s mission is to help spread financial literacy across the country by providing free educational resources to the public. It thoroughly vets and identifies professionals who have met its high standards of competency and ethics.

About

Kelley Goodwin and Paul Hoffman are highly credentialed financial educators and advisors with decades of success serving Northern California clients of all ages and incomes.

They are available 24/7, always welcoming the opportunity to work with clients, their friends, and their families. We like to think of it as our own brand of service.  Do you have questions?

Why choose FEP California?

We are different from other financial advisors in a number of important ways.

  • We only recommend superior companies and carriers and we will not compromise on this principle.
  • We communicate honestly, openly and directly—even about sensitive subjects like loved ones, lifestyle choices, and money.  It’s sometimes difficult to do, but our interest is in clients’ well-being—not in being liked.  Ironically, we’ve found that clients appreciate our candid approach because it takes them where they want to go faster and more effectively.
  • We are not new to this business.  We “been there/done that” and we know of what we speak. Experience. Results. Satisfied clients.  We have them all.
  • We are a service-focused, full-spectrum financial advisors who operate with the belief that high ethical standards, open communication, honesty and the spirit of success form the strongest of relationships.  Relationships bonded in mutual respect lead to more meaningful financial and lifestyle recommendations.

Working independently provides us the opportunity to recommend the best plan, regardless of company or product.   We are accessible and available to meet/talk with our clients as often as needed. At a minimum, we hold an annual meeting to give each client an overview of the performance of their products and to answer any questions they may have–at no charge, of course.

We invite you to click here to schedule just one short hour of your time investing in your future and discovering our unique insight about how to make it a reality.  Then, it is our hope, that you will invite us into your inner circle and, together, we will create the path that takes you there.

Our credentials

  • Licensed for fixed annuity products
  • Insurance licensed for life, health and disability
  • Licensed for long-term care and Medicare supplement insurance

We are educators first. Advisors second.

We have a wealth of training, education, and experience about wealth—how to create it, preserve it, and transfer it to loved ones. Sharing this knowledge–we believe–is our role in establishing an active collaboration.  That, in turn, becomes the glue that strengthens the bond between client and advisor.  We are, after all, both chasing the same dreams—yours.  And we’ve found—more times than not—that we both yield the dividend of friendship.

OUR Process & Services

First, we discuss your current financial situation to determine how we can help. Next, we determine the age you plan to retire and then we start the planning process to make that possible.  It’s the beginning of a relationship that will continue throughout your career and into retirement.  Our promise to each and every client is that “we will be there when you need us.”

Everyone is afraid of outliving their money.

Despite this common fear, everyone is different.  Therefore, every financial plan we do is tailored specifically to be a perfect fit.  With the expertise, resources and umbrella of products we provide, clients of virtually every life style and retirement goal can be well-served to satisfy their needs for a long and secure future.

What is a “independent” advisor?

With today’s complex array of financial options, it is more important than ever to be served by an advisor who is without bias and who is not paid with your every transaction. Kelley and Paul—in affiliation with the non-profit FEP—open mindedly examine financial options based on their merits and how they align with clients needs. Period.

“Through the years, I’ve noticed clients’ peace of mind that comes from taking advantage of stock market increases without suffering the risks.  So, in recent years, our practice has gone in that direction.”  Most of the plans we prepare include a full array of options.
